To service one of our larger Distribution customers, our business day starts just after midnight. At strategic locations, trailers full of vital office supplies that were ordered by our client's customers are off-loaded, scanned, sorted and crossdocked for line hauls and ultimate last mile delivery to the end customer.
Electronic files precede the trucks with that day's product and delivery information. As the product is offloaded, it's verified with a barcode scan that is then compared to the lead file to validate receipt. Missing items, overages and items received as damaged are noted and appended to the daily report we create for our customer. This is then emailed and made available online for them.
Some product requires crossdocking and is sent via line haul to other terminals in other cities. This freight is also electronically tracked via barcode scanning and quickly sent on its way. When it is received at the next location, it is unloaded, scanned again, maintaining the chain of custody, sorted and sent out with our drivers. Routes are optimized daily by the BeavEx logistics team, taking full advantage of our technology platform. As the deliveries are made, the product is scanned and electronic signatures are captured. This gives our customer a real-time look at the progress of their orders.
